Lactation Consulting
Breastfeeding is natural, but not always easy. Sometimes a small adjustment in position, latch, or breastfeeding routine is all it takes to significantly improve the situation.
Lactation consulting is intended for mothers who want help with breastfeeding, want to make sure everything is okay, or are dealing with specific difficulties.
Together, we will look at the breastfeeding process, the baby’s latch, the breastfeeding position, as well as any pain or uncertainties.
The goal of a consultation is to support the mother and find a solution that is practical and sustainable in the long term for both you and your child.
How I can help you
Lactation consulting is suitable for various difficulties associated with breastfeeding, such as:
- painful breastfeeding, sensitive or injured nipples, breast engorgement, or uncertainty regarding the amount of breast milk.
- It can also help with latching problems, baby restlessness at the breast, supplemental feeding, pumping, or returning to breastfeeding after a difficult start.
- A consultation is also suitable in situations where the baby is gaining weight slowly, falling asleep at the breast, breastfeeding takes a long time, or you are not sure if he/she is feeding effectively.
- It can also be used preventatively — for example, before birth or after returning from the maternity hospital.
How a consultation works
During a consultation, we will go through your current situation, the course of the birth, the beginnings of breastfeeding, and any supplemental feeding or pumping together.
We will also evaluate the breastfeeding position, the baby’s latch, and your comfort.
You will receive specific recommendations that you can try immediately.
I will explain everything clearly and with regard to your options and the daily reality of life with a baby.
Who the service is for
For registered as well as non-registered patients.
Consulting is suitable for pregnant women, new mothers after birth, and mothers of older infants who are dealing with changes in breastfeeding, pumping, or the introduction of solid foods.
Each consultation is individual and tailored to the specific situation of the mother and child.
Support without judgment
I believe that breastfeeding should not be a source of stress, pain, or a sense of failure.
My goal is to help you understand what is happening during breastfeeding, find the cause of difficulties, and offer a solution that respects you, your baby, and your decisions.
There is no single right way for everyone. It is important that the care is kind, professional, and practical.
Mgr. Dominika Hudáková
is a healthcare speech therapist and certified lactation consultant. She graduated in speech therapy and deaf education from Charles University in Prague and has been working as a speech therapist at Motol University Hospital since then. She completed the basic core training in clinical speech therapy.
In her professional practice, she focuses primarily on infants and toddlers, especially in the areas of food intake, swallowing, communication, and early speech development. Thanks to her experience in healthcare, she views breastfeeding comprehensively — as an area related to latching technique, sucking, swallowing, breathing, the child’s growth, and the mother’s comfort.
In 2022, she became a certified lactation consultant. In lactation consulting, she combines a professional perspective with a sensitive, clear, and practical approach to mothers and their children.
